Custom Shower with Niche Insert and Better Bench Part 1

The following three blog entries are from the same house. I did the marble floor first then a few weeks later started on the shower. Below are some detailed pics of the shampoo niche insert: after and before. Just so you can see how these can be installed. There are also two more shelves on the other wall that can be seen in the post below.
After taping and filling the seams with thinset, I used an anti-fracture/waterproofing membrane for stability and ... waterproofing!
Below are some pics of the "floating" Better Bench. It's a great way to install a bench that is functional but doesn't take up a lot of room. Sleek and sturdy. It hold up to 400 lbs. Also allow for more floor space if you have 50 or so bottles of hair products that don't all fit on your soap dishes and shelves. 

The Better Bench is installed by screwing the bench to the studs or using anchors where there are no studs. Then filling with floor mud on a slope so water can run off. Then I taped the corners and waterproofed them before tiling, just like how I did the floor below.
